Special olympicS monroe
We have some terrific news for all of our aquatics families, and anyone else that would like to swim.
The Pocono Family YMCA in Stroudsburg has open their pool to our program,
2x per week starting on July 20th.
They currently have 8 and under swim team members in the pool on Wednesdays from 6:30-7:30pm, and have a swim coach and a lifeguard. This time slot will be very compatible since they have the lane lines in and it is a formal swim practice. NOTE: the swim members will only be using this time for the summer. They can easily adapt to our organization on this day.
On Thursday they have a 4:30-5:30pm slot. It is currently a recreation slot for Special Populations. They can add a lane line for practice or just use it as a recreational time until the spring time when they are actually training.
The charge will be $5.00 per day per swimmer. Which you will be responsible for, but during training months in the spring for the 10 weeks we are required to practice for competition, Monroe County will pay for the 10 weeks of training's for the aquatic athletes that are going to compete.
This is an open swim and has been put in place to give our athletes more opportunities to train on their own year-round.
Once our season starts in the spring they will be helping us train, and their swim teams will be assisting us with competitions, and we will be working with them to find coaches to attend competition with us. This is a wonderful opportunity, and are very grateful.
This is not a competition size pool, so we will need to adjust the times for competitions. We have a pool, a life guard, help and times slots!
If you are interested, or have any questions please let us know.
Thursday night swim is for special populations only.
